Gringo Living IN Mexico #22 The Lunch Break!

This was early on when we were first down there! We did our rotation of personnel and as usual I had been down there for about a month, it was a Sunday, and the city doesn't wake up til noon! We started at 7 am and there were a lot of first timers there at the time! Well they decided to go to lunch early, I told them there wasn't much open at 11 am on a Sunday, but was over ruled! LOL! This was always a problem down there with 4 people to a car getting everyone to agree on where to go to eat!… Continue

Gringo Living in Mexico #21 Car Washes!

This was (to me) the funniest thing I saw the whole time I was there! I've mentioned before that my boss there wasn't tight with the cash. We had three good size houses all with in a few blocks of one another. On Sundays we BBQ ed and partied. It didn't take long for the neighborhood kids to scope us out, and soon on Sundays these 2 boys around 14 years old would come by and wash our cars for us! The boss shot them a good chunk of change, for them it was mucho dinero! They would usually do 2 or… Continue

Gringo Living in Mexico #20 The Accident!

Well this was a very unpleasant experience, to say the least! I was at work and we needed some special stock, some Stainless Steel threaded rod. This was a challenge, but Terry rose to the occasion, knowing my way and around and my limited Spanglish, I set out looking for this hard to find item, and as usual they needed it now. I had a source that could point me in the right direction, so I drove over there and got my point across as to what I needed, my friend made a couple calls and found… Continue

Gringo Living in Mexico "A" Tribute to "Jack" My Friend!

I'm deviating from my normal Mexico post today! I found out yesterday a really good friend of mine passed away last Monday! Jack Bourgois! He was a friend here on this post and some of you might know him, I did since 5th grade. I talked to him recently and he said he was having major breathing problems, and on oxygen, but I never expected we'd lose him so soon! He was living in Florida and raising Parrots, what a neat thing to do! We used to get in a lot of trouble together as kids and I want… Continue

A Gringo Living In Mexico #19 My Cha Cha!

I spoke on an earlier post about a friend who got into some trouble, he went to Michigan and got stuck there, he had a girlfriend in Mexico and they were going to get married there, so he moved most of his things there, well anyway, she had to leave the home they were renting there and she came to stay with Patti and me until she could go back to her moms! Her and Patti got along well, and she was going thru some hard times to say the least, everyone new her and she was well liked. A guy was… Continue

You mentioned "big gringo," I'd have to guess Cleaves or Lutz? And see if you can get Linda to post a blog or two. Her comments were pretty entertaining...LMAO!!!

LMAO Terry, next time invite him onto your personal yacht and make sure he sits in the galley so he can keep an eye on the cook/chef. BTW, When you send his engraved invitation, please make a note to him to bring as many spoons as he thinks he will…

Terry, Thanks for the info on Jack. We'll all miss him. He was a hell raiser, and great friend. I don't remember when he and I spoke last, but at that time he told me he had C.O.P.D. and was on oxygen, so I knew his days were numbered. I…
